Phone Apps

Table of contents

For the newly initiated digital independence day (short: di.day) during the 39c3 talk "Die Känguru-Rebellion: Digital Independence Day" by Mark-Uwe Kling. This blog post is list of Apps that I use and and find good.

F-Droid

F-Droid is an alternative app-store to the google Play-Store that only contains apps that respects the user. They also have to be fully free and open-source.

F-Droid comes preinstalled on my microG for lineageOs device. However, it can also be installed on regular android devices. The benefit of the preinstalled version is that auto-update of apps installed via the F-Droid store also works.

Most Apps I use are in the regular F-Droid store, some apps are only on the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid Repository and for the Tor Browser the Guardian Project.

Apps from F-Droid:

From Play store:

The first one of this list is open source and I would be happy to also use from F-Droid if it were available. And the two remaining ones don't have good alternatives that I'm aware of.
